PAST PROJECT
DBE Horizon
Inflatable Modular Space Habitat Proposal
Advanced Manufacturing Material Innovation Robotic Fabrication
DBE Horizon is a speculative aerospace design project proposing an inflatable modular habitat for space missions. Developed as a thesis, the concept explores scalable, lightweight, and structurally resilient living systems for the International Space Station and future orbital infrastructure. With a focus on modularity, material efficiency, and environmental adaptability, DBE Horizon rethinks human-centered design in extreme, extraterrestrial conditions.
WHY?
Space habitats must be light, modular, and capable of withstanding extreme conditions. DBE Horizon reimagines how inflatable architecture can support long-term life in orbit while minimizing mass and maximizing adaptability.
WHAT?
DBE Horizon is an academic design exploration proposing an inflatable modular habitat for low-Earth orbit. The project focuses on reusability, structural adaptability, and human-centered environmental design for life in space.
HOW?
The project combines inflatable structural systems with modular assembly strategies. Through 3D modeling, material stress analysis, and environmental simulation, DBE Horizon investigates viable configurations for future space habitation.
WHERE?
A scale model and technical visuals were created to demonstrate the system's spatial and functional viability. The project serves as a conceptual reference for future aerospace innovation.
WHEN?
Originally developed as a graduate thesis, the project is currently in the conceptual stage, with scale models and technical illustrations created to communicate core design principles.
WITH?
Developed in collaboration with the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation DIDI as part of an advanced design curriculum focused on speculative futures.
